Kids View Documentary

A documentary short will be created. Kids are given a subject to discuss on camera. All Kids ‘N Film subject matter is created for general audiences viewing. Kids film each other, rotating positions in front of the camera and behind the camera. Kids learn to think on their feet through fun interaction. Short form documentary plays an important part in education and can help to create connections to the world around them.Parents on-site participate with their youth in rehearsing scripts, sides, or monologues that will appear on camera.

Green Screen Improv Fun

A unique cable TV workshop program will be filmed as Students and Parents are introduced to scripts and sides. Parents are invited to help the students practice script reading and improv and are given the opportunity to use their imagination to create on-camera characterization against the green screen backdrop. The use of green screen is a fun way to explore different characters and roles through short interactive dialogue. This is a way to build short clips that can also be used in reel-building. The kids practice telling visual stories and characterizations. The video images will be transformed onto fun backgrounds that compliment or enhances their character dialogue. Parents on-site participate with their youth in rehearsing scripts, sides, or monologues that will appear on camera.

Short Film Narrative

A unique educational cable TV program will be filmed as Kids are given several ideas to jump-start collaborating and sharing ideas to create a short film. They will learn through hands-on exercises about camera movement, storyboarding and sound. Stories are universal and create connections. We want to reach children emotionally in a positive way that is enjoyable while helping them to develop socially as they journey through visual imagining. Parents on-site participate with their youth in rehearsing scripts, sides, or monologues that will appear on camera.

In-Depth Characterization

With the help of Parents, Kids get to challenge themselves while having creative fun developing on-screen character studies. The student must picture the imaginary environment and take turns being dramatic, silly, happy, sad. They are given adjectives that best describe a character that they create.  For example: “Excited, Amused, Mean, Mad, Silly, Happy.” Students may also bring fun props that can be used to enhance their characters. They will learn about direct and indirect characterization working individually and in pairs. The will create indirect characterizations. Parents on-site may participate with their youth in rehearsing scripts, sides, or monologues that will appear on cable access TV show along with the finished short educational project.

Monologues

Vallejo Community Access Television (VCAT)

Kids are given a 23-second monologue to practice. The monologues will be emailed to you if you register in advance allowing the youth to select the one they would like to do and provide practice time or you can create your own 23-second monologue. There will additionally be practice time during the first hour of the workshop. Kids film each other, rotating positions in front of the camera and behind the camera. The edited video monologue will be delivered electronically to each youth participant within 7-10 days for use as part of their reel-building packages. Set-Parents on-site participate with their youth in rehearsing scripts, sides, or monologues that will appear on camera.

Headshots 

August 2017. Date & Location to TBD

11:00 AM - 2:30 PM

11:00 AM - 2:30 PM Come spruced up and ready for the camera. This is the headshot session and each participant will be photographed. A proof sheet of 3-headshots will be provided within 7 days after the workshop to select your favorite shot. One retouched high-quality headshot will be provided electronically to each participant. Additional shots may be purchased separately. 

 

 

 

Students completing ALL of the workshops to film TV show sessions receive a certificate of completion after participating in at least 4 workshops. Film sessions are designed to spark imagination, enhance self-esteem and confidence on camera, learn storytelling and behind the scene camera techniques. While we encourage youth creativity, projects will not include foul language or cursing, inappropriate content or mindless violence. 

 

Film Sessions are lead by seasoned professional(s). Light lunch & snacks are provided. Pre-Pay does not include separate On Location Workshop Training & Production outlined below.

 

Every child will have an opportunity to appear on camera and have some behind the scene camera experience if they so desire.

 

ADVANCED REGISTRATION TO ALL WORKSHOPS IS ENCOURAGED. IT MAKES LIFE SO MUCH EASIER, HOWEVER ON-SITE REGISTRATION WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL $10. FEE AND IS SUBJECT TO SPACE AVAILABILITY!!! ON-SITE REGISTRATION IS CASH ONLY!

 

On Location 1-2 Day Workshop Training & Production: 

Dates and Locations TBD

Daylong on Location workshops will be designed for narrative based workshop film projects or documentary project. Students will participate both behind the scene and in front of the camera. Every participant will have a chance to rotate both in front of and behind the camera. Daylong workshops require parent participation and attendance. Day workshop schedules from 10:00 - 5:00 pm. Includes lunch (1-hour lunch break, snacks, & regular breaks). 

 

 

Lights, Camera, Action

 

Cameras role during each session, which will be edited for local access viewing.

All Parents are encouraged to participate. We encourage Parent participation.

 

Fees cover light lunch (daylong workshops) and/or snacks,

Offsite professional editing,

Delivery of DVDs after each program session.
